Dear Speight Cougars,

Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year!  I hope you all had a wonderful summer. I am honored to serve as your new principal and to join the Cougar family that is committed to excellence, growth, and the success of every student.

Students, I am eager to see your enthusiasm and curiosity in the classrooms, hallways, and extracurricular activities. I can’t wait to see you engage in challenging coursework, explore new interests, and build lasting friendships. Our dedicated teachers and support staff are committed to creating a supportive and dynamic learning environment that helps each student reach their full potential.

At the end of the 2024-2025 school year, the efforts of our team were successful. We were able to maintain our School letter grade of  a “C.”  We showed significant gains in mathematics and maintained proficiency in ELA. Please give yourselves a round of applause and a pat on the back because it took all of us to make this happen.  

 

In order to keep the lines of communication open to ensure student academic success, safety and growth you can expect weekly Sunday communication via phone call that will include information regarding academics, athletics, and events.  We will also communicate information via social media platforms, specifically Facebook and Classroom Dojo. Please accept the invitation to join your students' Classroom Dojo when the opportunity arises. Bus information will be communicated ONLY on Dojo. We are also going to put major events on our school’s website. Together, we will continue to build on Speight Middle School’s proud traditions while preparing our students for the challenges and opportunities of the future. I look forward to getting to know each of you and to a year full of learning, growth, and achievement. Our motto for the year is “Together we Rise; Watch us Roar.”
